 I have worked, hiked and climbed in Fiordland for twenty-two years. I've been a cray fisherman, track builder, Milford Track chief guide, movie location scout, biologist, newspaper correspondent and conservation volunteer over that time - and I'm still just 48!

Over the years I found that many Fiordland visitors wanted that real inside look in to what makes this area tick - the mountains, the lakes and the sea.

Our journeys are based on matching the trip to the walkers. Therefore I guide only small groups - never more than six.

Fiordland is a big place.  We can choose from short walks, long walks, walks to lakes, walks to mountains, walks to nowhere-in-particular-but-it's-beautiful, flat walks, steep walks, hang-on-to-the-tree-roots-and-go-straight-up walks, geology walks, moss and fern walks, bird life walks.

I can answer your questions about the ecology, biology and history of the places we'll see and keep you safe AND make great coffee at lunch time.

I also know when to say nothing. Fiordland's silences say more and teach more than I'll ever know.

I love Fiordland - its wild landscapes, its ancient Gondwanan wildlife, its fragile ecology, even its, let's say, spirited weather - and I want to help you, too, to see beneath the glossy Fiordland postcard to the surprising and complex reality.

We can show you a dozen other hikes of a day or less, ranging from flat forest floor ambles to challenging journeys into untracked, un-trekked areas.  Everything from stream-side moss glades to an iceberg-filled lake!
